Second Half Defensive Lockdown Leads Rams Past Detroit 69-55

The URI men's basketball team (7-3) defeated (6-6) Detroit 69-55 on Saturday evening at the Ryan Center in front for 4,694 fans. The Rams win their second straight game after losing to Providence.

URI trailed 36-34 at half time after Detroit closed the frame on a 12-6 run. However, in the second half the Rams showed everyone their lock down defense that they have shown at times throughout the season.

E.C. Matthews led the Rhode Island with 23 points, 19 of them coming in the second half, and eight rebounds in the game while T.J. Buchanan followed up with 11 points off the bench.
Juwan Howard Jr. led the Titans with 17 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
URI returns to action on New Years Eve when they host in state rival Brown University at 4 p.m.
