PC Escapes With 62-60 Win Over Stony Brook

Rodney Bullock knocked down two free throws with .6 seconds left as the Providence College Friars escaped with a 62-60 win over Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
"First and foremost I'm proud of our guys that we found a way to win. We were absolutely dead in the water, but you know, you tell our guys it is not how you start it is how you finish. We allowed the crowd to get in the game, we just had to see the ball go through the net a couple of times. We didn't have any energy, but I'm proud of the group, I did think we showed some grit and some toughness, "said PC head coach Ed Cooley after the game.
In the game, PC guard Kyron Cartwright reinjured his ankle after landing on a Stony Brook players foot early in the second half. He did not return to the game and was seen on the bench with crutches. Cooley revealed that Cartwright would be getting an MRI on the ankle.

Friars Escape
Providence led 60-58 with 18 seconds to play before the Seawolves got a layup by Tyrell Sturdivant to tie the game with nine seconds left.
On PC's last possession, Isaiah Jackson missed a layup to give Providence the lead, but Bullock was fouled while grabbing the offensive rebound.
Bullock went to the line and knocked down two free throws to give Providence the win.
Bullock went 6-8 from the free throw line in the game, while only making three field goals for a total of 12 points.
Stony Brook did not get a shot off in their last possession.
PC trailed by as much as 11 points, 49-38.
From that point, Providence went on a 12-0 run capped off by a Jalen Lindsey layup to take a 50-49 lead with 5:19 to go.
Providence would grab a 59-54 lead with 1:47 to play, before the Seawolves would tie the game at 60.
Nate Watson led the Friars with 15 points on 7 of 11 shooting from the field. Jackson followed up with 13 points of his own.
Next up
The Friars return to action on Wednesday, December 20 when they play Houston at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
