The Patriots took control on their first offensive possession of the game.
Quarterback Tom Brady led the Patriots on a 15 play, 87-yard drive that concluded with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Dion Lewis to put the Patriots up 7-0 following an extra point by Stephen Gostkowski.
New England would strike again with 5:23 left in the second quarter when Brady capped off a nine play, 80-yard drive by finding Danny Amendola in the back of the end zone for a five-yard touchdown pass to put New England up 14-0.
Patriots Capitalize on Oakland Mistakes
The Raiders had the ball in the closing minutes of the first half and drove all the way to the New England 15 yard line with a chance to cut the Patriots lead in half heading into the locker room.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr fired a pass to the right to Seth Roberts at the Patriots seven-yard line. Roberts made the catch, but upon being spun around by New England’s Marquis Flowers, Patriots safety Patrick Chung punched the ball out and recovered it, giving the Patriots the ball back.
The Patriots took over possession at their own seven-yard line with 33 seconds left.
On first down, Lewis rushed 20 yards to the Patriots 27 yard line, and then Brady hit Amendola for 18 yards at the Patriots 45 yard line.
With 11 seconds left, Brady found Rob Gronkowski at the Oakland 45 yard line with five seconds to play and called a timeout.
Gostkowski then came on and nailed a 62-yard field goal to put the Patriots up 17-0 at the half.
The field goal is the longest in Patriots history and tied for the sixth longest in NFL history.

Cooks would finish the game with six catches for 149 yards and a touchdown.
Brady would finish the game completing 30 of 37 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
Gostkowski would add two more field goals in the third quarter to give the Patriots a 30-0 lead.
The Raiders would get on the board midway through the fourth quarter to make the score 30-8 following a two-point conversion.
Gostkowski would add another field goal to put the Patriots up 33-8.

The Raiders best chance to stop Brady is if the guy who stole his jersey at the Super Bowl sneaks into the Patriots locker room at halftime.
