Columbia Tops Brown 70-68

Columbia guard Maodo Lo connected on two free throws with 14 seconds remaining as the Lions scored the game's last six points in a 70-68 Ivy League win over Brown at Levien Gymnasium.
Brown falls to 13-10 overall, 5-4 in the Ivy League, while the Lions improve to 16-10, 5-4 in league play. The two teams are tied for third place in the Ivy League standings.

Columbia's Maodo Lo was fouled by Bears' freshman Steven Spieth with 14 seconds remaining when both players dove for a loose ball. He connected on both free throws to give the Lions a 70-68 advantage.
Bears' freshman forward Leland King missed a shot from the corner that was rebounded by Walker with 2.5 seconds remaining. Following a timeout, McGonagill's three-point attempt from 30 feet fell short as the final buzzer sounded.
McGonagill scored a team high 20 points and established a new Brown record with 233 career treys, breaking the previous all-time record of 232 treys by Damon Huffman '08. McGonagill broke the career milestone midway through the second half.
Brown played without junior forward Rafael Maia, the Ivy League's leading rebounder, who was sidelined with an injury. The Bears were out-rebounded by the Lions by a 39-28 margin.
Sophomore Cedric Kuakumensah tossed in 12 points and blocked six shots for the Bears, just one short of the Brown school record for blocks. King started in place of Maia and responded with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Columbia's Alex Rosenberg led all scorers with 23 points, while Meiko Lyles had a big night with 21 points on phenomenal 5-of-5 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Lyles also finished with nine rebounds.
The Bears opened up a 19-10 lead with 13:10 left in the opening half on treys by McGonagill and freshman Tavon Blackmon, and an inside hook shot by Spieth.
Columbia pulled back to within three points, 21-18, following Luke Petrasek's trey with 11:28 left in the half.
Kuakumensah's lay-up with 8:03 remaining game Brown its biggest lead, 29-18, capping off a 8-0 Brown run.
The Lions put on an impressive 18-6 run to pull ahead, 36-35, on two free throws by Alex Rosenberg in the waning moments of the first half. Junior Dockery Walker answered with a lay-up to put the Bears ahead at intermission, 37-36.
Brown returns to action tomorrow night (Saturday) for a nationally televised game against Cornell in Ithaca, New York. Tip-off on the NBC Sports Network is 8:00
