After hitting the barrier, the car launched into a sign post just off the highway.

According to police, she was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Boston Herald, Thomas was not told about the incident until after the Celtics Saturday practice.

The Celtics are getting set to face the Chicago Bulls in game one of the first-round of the NBA playoffs on Sunday night.

It is unclear if Thomas will play and is listed as a game-time decision.

The Herald reports that Thomas was still in Boston as of Saturday evening.
