Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Block is condemning Democratic State Party Chairman David Caprio and Democratic State Representative Peter Palumbo for "rigging the game" and "serving their own financial interests."

“Once again, politically-connected insiders are abusing their positions and serving their own financial interests,” said Block. “These Democrats engaged in such questionable behavior that there is an open and active State Police investigation into their actions.”

Block cited the NBC 10 I-Team's investigative story that revealed Palumbo "was the high bidder on a contract to operate concession stands at state beaches but then backed out. As a result, the contract was awarded to the second highest bidder, [Caprio] who then hired Palumbo to manage the operation."

“These Democrats are unfairly rigging the game, and shortchanging the taxpayers of our state,” said Block. “There are strong indications of collusion here – it appears there was a pre-planned strategy to influence the outcome of the bidding process and win this contract at a reduced price. As a business owner, I bid on contracts, and this type of behavior is flat-out wrong. As a taxpayer, I’m sick of watching political insiders rip us off.”
