NEW: RI Gas Prices Shooting Up
Monday, May 02, 2016
Rhode Island gas prices have risen 7 cents from last week, the highest they have been in over six months, according to AAA Northeast.
“Relatively cheap gas prices are boosting driving demand, and 2016 remains poised to be a very strong year for both gasoline consumption and annual miles traveled. As we move toward the summer driving season all eyes will focus on whether refiners can keep pace with the higher demand, and what impact that capability will have on prices at the pump,” said John Paul, AAA Northeast Senior Manager of Traffic Safety.
AAA's May 2 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.22 per gallon, 7 cents more than last week and 18 cents more than a month ago.
