Aimee Gardiner, who spearheaded the “RI Against Mandated HPV Vaccine” effort, joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle LIVE at the Rhode Island State House, before the Senate Health and Human Services Committee considered Senate Bill 2530, a mandatory health tracking system proposed by RIDOH.
“The bill would authorize the [Rhode Island] Department of Health to expand KIDSNET, our current tracking database for all minors, to include every single person in Rhode Island,” said Gardiner. “Furthermore, no one may opt out of the registry. S 2530 would make the health tracking registry mandatory for everyone.”
Gardiner said her goal would be that legislation would be written so that Rhode Islanders could opt into the database, which she explained could contain all of a person’s health information — not just vaccination history.
“RIDOH argues that this mandatory tracking system would benefit the public. Perhaps it would. But how does RIDOH justify the subversion of informed consent? If this no opt-out surveillance system stands on its own merit, won’t individuals want to partake? Must RIDOH subvert our informed consent? Any government agency that opposes informed consent, is dangerous,” wrote Gardiner for “Health Choice Rhode Island.”
