House Majority Leader Joe Shekarchi joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle at the Rhode Island State House on Thursday afternoon, where he spoke to the soon to be vacated seat for Warwick Mayor, when Scott Avedisian departs to head up RIPTA -- as first reported by GoLocal.
Shekarchi, who was first elected to District 23 in Warwick in 2012, was House Labor Chair before being elected Majority Leader in 2016, said he will not run for Mayor.
Shekarchi talked about Matt Brown's run for Governor against Gina Raimondo. He also discussed the battle between former U.S. Senator and Governor Lincoln Chafee and sitting Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
