Andy Lampert at Fatt Squirrel Tonight
Rhode Islander Andy Lampert has played guitar in several RI bands since the late 80’s. After years of playing back up, he’s decided to release his own album 10 Songs of Pain, (which actually has 15 songs), inspired by a recent trip to Warsaw, Poland. You can be among the first to hear it tonight at his record release party at The Fatt Squirrel in Providence. Fans of Big Star, Tennage Fanclub, and even The Who will want to check out his glam influenced power pop. It’s a total rock show with openers Blackbutton, RECOVER(E), Nobody's Boyscouts, Running Maid, and 3 Parts Dead. There’s a $10 cover – details here.

Amy Black, who recently relocated to Nashville from Boston, returns to the Narrows Center tonight. Black is on tour with her popular new album, The Muscle Shoals Sessions. Her Southern roots come through on the album – American Songwriter called her “a powerful, authentic, talented and above all soulful new entry in the rootsy singer/songwriter ranks.” Music Starts at 8PM. Tickets are $25.00.
S.A.M. Fest in Pawtucket Saturday and Sunday
The S.A.M. Fest kicks off the Pawtucket Arts Festival this weekend with music and more in Hodgson Rotary Park at Slater Mill. Saturday’s artists includes The Doug Wolverton Band, The James Montgomery Band and The Jon Butcher Axis. Sunday, check out Jay Brunelle, Bobby B. Keyes, Sax Gordon Beadle, and a rare appearance from the legendary Young Adults. Music runs both days from 11-5 and admission is free. Click here for details.
Providence Folk Festival Sunday
The Providence Folk Festival is a free family friendly event happening this Sunday at the Roger Williams National Memorial in Providence. The Festival features top local acts along with nationally known folk artists The Nields and Cliff Eberhardt. Local artists including Dan Lilley and the Keepers with Amy Bedard, Cardboard Ox and Marc Douglas Berardo are also scheduled. The Festival is free and runs from Noon – 6PM. Weekend at Xfinity Center
The Xfinity Center in Mansfield has a busy weekend ahead with three big shows. Tonight it’s the “Rock Out with Your Socks Out” show with 5 Seconds of Summer. Tomorrow, Chris Brown brings his "One Hell of a Night" tour and Sunday it’s a shared bill with Earth, Wind and Fire along with Chicago on their "Heart and Soul Tour." The reigning champion of Chicago Blues was at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA Sunday for an inspired show before an enthusiastic crowd. Behind a tight band, Buddy Guy turned up the heat, and looked great doing it! GoLocalWorcester Music Critic Ken Abrams and Photographer Rick Farrell of Mojo Photography were there.
