Ballroom Thieves Friday

The popular Boston based Ballroom Thieves return to the Columbus Theatre Friday night. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong

The question “How did you get your name?” must be a frequent one for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. The four piece band from Baltimore features a funky jam-band vibe. They're on the road for over 200 dates a year and they’re playing Fete Saturday behind opener Aquenos, a groove rock band from Buffalo. Check it out after 8PM - details here.

Jesse Dee Saturday

Boston based Jesse Dee is a big part of the neo-Soul scene that is filling up dance floors everywhere. His updated retro 60’s sound will be front and center Saturday night at the Purple Cat Winery in Chepachet. Rock to a different sort tonight (Friday) with Jethro Tull legend Martin Barre. RIMHOF Jazz Induction

The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame begins two weekends of music Sunday afternoon at the Greenwich Odeum with a concert featuring the Jazz honorees. The Hall will officially induct the performers next weekend. but first, check out Sunday's show with 2017 nominees Artie Cabral, Dan Moretti, Billy Osborne, and Frank Potenza. Record Store Day Saturday

Saturday is the 10th anniversary of Record Store Day, and local shops are gearing up for the special event. With the growing popularity of vinyl, dozens of special releases are planned tomorrow. A couple of local stores even have free music to help celebrate – check out In Your Ear in Warren where you can hear Bocheck and the Z-Boys or What Cheer in Providence with a local line up including Kate Mick, Allysen Callery, Tall Teenagers, The ‘Mericans and The Low Cards. Pointer Sisters Friday

R&B legends The Pointer Sisters play the Twin River Events Center Friday. The Oakland, CA group achieved mainstream success in the 70’s and 80’s with hits like “He’s So Shy,” “I’m So Excited” and “Fire.” The 3 time Grammy winners are led by original member Ruth Pointer and the current line up includes her nieces Issa Pointer and Sadako Pointer. Show begins at 8PM. Details here.
