It is a long weekend as we celebrate Memorial Day and remember those who fought to protect our country.

The weekend's events include a couple of great art festivals, a Boots on the Ground Memorial hosted by Operation Stand Down and much more.

City of Central Falls Salsa Night

The City of Central Falls is hosting it s first Salsa Night tonight on the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. 

During the event, there will be a series of free salsa dance and music events for everyone to enjoy. 

“Central Falls Salsa Nights will offer residents and visitors alike, a unique way to experience the culture and excitement that our community has to offer. We are transforming an unassuming bridge into beautiful scene with market lighting, vibrant music, dancing, delicious food trucks, and great energy. This Friday’s Salsa Night has generated a lot of buzz not only in Central Falls, but throughout the Blackstone Valley," said Mayor James Diossa.

Food Truck Friday 

The First Food Truck Friday of the year is tonight at Roger Williams Park Zoo at Carousel Village from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

Enjoy great food, live music and a beer garden tonight and every Friday until October 28. 

The event is free to attend, but there are nominal fees to ride the carousel, participate in pony rides, or to enjoy the bounce house.

Stargazing Nights at Frosty Drew Observatory 

Look at the stars and look how they shine. Can you find any constellations? Maybe another planet. 

You never know what you may see from Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown. 

Viewing begins at 6 p.m. and goes to 11:30 p.m.

Bring Your Own Improv Family Friendly Comedy Show 

Bring Your Own Improv is in it's 9th season at the Warwick Museum of Art. The show is an interactive show that is fun for the entire family and encourages audience participation. 

The show goes from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors, military & Children 12 and under.

Brown Lacrosse vs. Maryland in NCAA Final Four 

Get out to your local bar or just get in front of your TV to watch the Brown lacrosse team take on top seeded Maryland in the NCAA Final Four on Saturday afternoon.

The winner goes on to the National Championship game on Monday. 

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.

Operation Stand Down's Boots on the Ground Memorial 

Operation Stand Down RI (OSDRI) will host the first annual Boost on the Ground for Heroes Memorial this Memorial Day weekend from Friday, May 27 at 5 p.m. to Monday May 30 at 4 p.m. Overall, OSDRI will place 6,844 boots  in the field by the Temple to Music at Roger Williams Park throughout the weekend. 

A formal ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 11 a.m.  where Sgt. Major Todd Parisi will deliver the keynote address. 

The event will honor all of Rhode Island's veterans American heroes who were killed in action defending the country during the war on terror by marking their lives with a boot, a flag and a name placard.

19th Annual Virtu Art Festival 

The 19th Annual Virtu Art Festival is underway at Wilcox Park located on 44 Broad Street in Westerly. 

The Art Festival features fine arts and crafts festival featuring the works of 185 selected artisans from around the country. Live entertainment in 3 areas and Creation Station area for children with free make-it and take-it activities.

The Gaspee Days Arts and Crafts festival takes place at Pawtuxet Village  in Warwick. The festival is FREE to enter. 

Since 1965, the Gaspee Days Committee has committed to providing the community with a fun, free, and family-friendly Arts & Crafts Festival which offers its neighbors, visitors, and friends the opportunity to enjoy a day outside shopping, eating, and spending time with friends and much more.
