Rhode Island Appreciation Night at PawSox Game

Summer is almost over and if you haven't made it ot McCoy Stadium yet, Labor Day weekend is  a perfect time to do so. 

Friday, September 4th is Rhode Island Appreciation night as the PawSox host the Rochester Red Wings. The first 5,000 fans will recieve PawSox baseball cards and following the game, fans with a Rhode Island ID can take pictures on the field. 

A great way to kick off the weekend.

Bring Your Own Improv at Warwick Museum of Art 

Now in it's 8th season, this interactive improv show welcomes voluntary audience participation! You can participate in one of three ways: Applaud at a scene you like, yell out suggestions, or if you feel you're ready, jump up and get involved with us on stage!

The Warwick Museum of Art is located on 3259 Post Road in Warwick.

Rhythm & Roots Festival at Ninigret Park

The 18th annual Rhythm and Roots Festival is coming to Charlestown's Ninigret Park this Labor Day weekend. 

This year's festival, sees the band Lake Street Drive appear for the first time as well as Rhode Island's own Sarah Potenza.

Potenza will perform all three days at the festival. 

The festival runs Friday from 5PM to Midnight and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to Midnight. Single day tickets are $50 for Friday $70 for Saturday and Sunday

J. Geils Band at India Point Park

Don't miss out on seeing  the J.Geils Band, playing Providence as part of the “Houseparty” tour.

Geils saw commercial success in the 80’s with songs like "Centerfold," "Freeze Frame" and "Love Stinks." Since then, they’ve toured from time to time and opened for artists including Aerosmith and Bob Seger. Expect a show complete with all their big hits. Ian Hunter and the Rant Band open at 6:30PM. Tickets are $55 in advance, $65 day of the show.

Labor Day Weekend Sidewalk Sale at Wrentham Village Premium Outlets 

Kick the fall season off right and cross the border into Massachusetts for a sidewalk sale at Wrentham Village. 

The sale will offer great deals on fall fashion items as well as live music to entertain you while you shop. 

The sale goes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and valet parking is available on both days.

Young Frankenstein at Theatre by the Sea

From the creators of the Broadway hit "The Producers," comes "Young Frankenstein."

The story follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork and bring a corpse to life.

Shows recur daily with 2 p.m. matinees and 8 p.m. evening shows.

Theatre by the sea is located at 364 Cards Pond Road in Matunick, RI.

Festival Latino de Providence

Sunday afternoon brings the first ever Festival Latino de Providence. The festival will feature tropical, merengue and reggaeton music with headliners from throughout Latin America.

The music runs from 1-8 on Sunday and tickets are still available starting at $20 in advance and $30 the day of festival. Kids under 12 are free. The event is General Admission – blankets and chairs are permitted, but coolers and large bags are not permitted.

"A Day in the Park" Water Safety Event 

This Water safety event will be held at Johnston Memorial Park on 1583 Hartford Avenue from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday and is FREE. 

The purpose of the event is to bring awareness to water and pool safety. Participants can learn CPR, become an organ donor and donate blood as well as help out the back to school backpack drive. 

Plenty to do for kids as well including face painting, 3 bouncy houses, a photo booth and more.

Labor Day Boat Tours of Providence

Relax on Labor Day and enjoy Providence from a new perspective! 

Hop aboard and enjoy a unique Labor Day water tour of the Providence River and Industrial Harbor. Admire the architecture and history of the city while Captain Tom highlights historical landmarks and points of interest.

The tours are put on by the Providence River Boat Company, located at 575 South Water Street.

Providence Ghost Tour at Prospect Terrace Park

In thier 10th season, Providence Ghost Tour has been ranked as one of the top ten ghost tours by tripadvisor.com. Join them and stroll around the darkened streets of the East Side of Providence with a lantern. 

This should really put you in the fall/ Halloween spirit. 

Prospect Terrace Park is located on Congdon Street in Providence. Tours happen daily.
