Moses Brown Fr. Dickson Shoots 67, Leads RIIL Golf Championship

The treacherous island green par-3 8th hole was the toughest hole on the course in Round 1, with competitors averaging a 4.46.
Dickson finished with an eagle, 4 birdies, 12 pars, and a double bogey for his 67. He leads second place Matthew Corio of La Salle by 4 shots with 18 holes to play.
Scoring conditions were favorable and Dickson was nearly flawless in posting the only round under par in the field. He made a double bogey 5 on the par-3 4th hole but responded immediately with a birdie on the par-4 5th. He finished the front 9 even par and then proceeded to break away from most of the field on the back 9, eagling the par-5 13th hole and adding birdies on 12 and 16.

Bridget Hagerty of La Salle posted the best score of all the girls in the field, shooting a 3-over 74 and finishing Day 1 in a tie for 3rd place with Portsmouth's Jake Bauer. Joseph Tucker of Bishop Hendricken rounds out the top 5 with a 5-over 76, placing him 9 shots off the lead.
In the team competition, La Salle leads the way with a 301 after Round 1, adding 78s from Sebastian Tonkovich and Sean Ferreira to Corio and Hagerty's scores.
Moses Brown is in 2nd place at 307, followed by Hendricken at 316 and Portsmouth at 321.
The tournament concludes tomorrow, with the final group of Dickson, Corio, and Bauer teeing off last at 9:09 a.m.
