Will La Salle celebrate a 3rd straight state championship?
The Rhode Island Interscholastic League is set to crown 3 new state champions in boys’ lacrosse Sunday, with Division 1 La Salle aiming for a 3rd consecutive state championship victory in 2014.

The Rams finished 10-0 in league play this season and cruised to a 16-9 semifinal victory over Moses Brown.

Their opponent, #2 seed Barrington, knocked off Hendricken 12-6 in the semifinals to earn a berth in the state title game.   The Eagles posted a 7-3 league record in 2014, and a win over La Salle would mark the first lacrosse championship in program history.

In Division 2, East Greenwich takes on South Kingstown, with the Avengers seeking a 4th straight state championship.  The top 2 seeds in Division 2, EG and SK split their regular season matchups at one win apiece.

In Division 3, Smithfield will not win a 4th championship in a row.  The Sentinels were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Coventry, and the Oakers then defeated Cranston West in the semifinals to advance to the championship game.

Coventry’s opponent is Tiverton/Rogers Co-op, who knocked over Burrillville/North Smithfield Co-op in the semifinals.

The triple-header begins at 1:00p.m. with East Greenwich and South Kingstown, followed by Tiverton/Rogers vs. Burrillville/North Smithfield at 3:00 p.m., and concluded with La Salle and Barrington at 5 p.m.  All games are at Brown University.
