The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce as well as the Newport County Chamber of Commerce have all endorsed Question 1 which supports a Tiverton casino and hotel on this year's November ballot.

"We support the 550 – 600 jobs which will be required for the Twin River-Tiverton Casino and Hotel as well as the approximate $50 million annually in gaming revenue the State of Rhode Island will receive and which may be used to fund education, public safety and infrastructure improvements.  Last, we believe the $4 million in annual payments to the Town of Tiverton appropriately compensates the host community for moving the Newport Grand license to property in Tiverton, approximately 450-feet from the Massachusetts border," said the Chambers of Commerce in a joint statement.

The Tiverton, Rhode Island casino is proposed by Twin River Management Group and is on the statewide ballot as Question 1 and the local Tiverton ballot as Question 8.

“We’re grateful for the support of these three leading chamber organizations which collectively, represent more than 3,000 businesses from all corners of the state. We’re excited about the possibility of 550 - 600 jobs at the proposed Tiverton casino as well as the additional gaming revenue – approximately $50 million - to the state which would be nearly double that of Newport Grand today. We think that’s good news for the state and we hope the voters on November 8 agree and vote yes to approve on Question 1 statewide and locally, yes to approve on Question 8,” said John Taylor, Jr., chairman of the Twin River Management Group.

The chambers of commerce are represented by the following presidents:

Laurie White

John Gregory

Erin Donovan-Boyle
