Cranston restaurateur Ed Brady is slated to be appointed to the City Council on Monday.

According to posts by Cranston City Council President Michael Farina and Brady, the agenda for a special meeting of the Council on Monday, June 11, has Farina appointing Brady to the position, following the resignation of Councilman Trent Colford.

"So proud to appoint great community leader and a person of great character to the Cranston City Council. He is a person who I know will lead with the interests of the people in mind. Congratulations Edward Brady," said Farina in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Cranston Mayor -- and GOP gubernatorial candidate Allan Fung -- weighed in on Sunday night.

"I think Ed's a fantastic person to represent Ward 4," said Fung. "Not only is he a true blue Cranstonian, he's a great business person -- and someone who's always given back to the community, whether it's been the Cranston West Alumni Association, or the Dream Center, and more."

"Colford was a great business advocate," said Fung, who noted that Colford stepped down due to a fire at his house -- and subsequently moving to South County.

About Brady

Brady appeared on GoLocal LIVE in April to discuss his restaurants.  As GoLocal wrote:

Rhode Island restaurateur Edward Brady joined GoLocal News Editor Kate Nagle on GoLocal LIVE, where he said the restaurant business is "the best it's been" in years.

Brady spoke to the latest at 4Corners Coffee, the Thirsty Beaver, and Milk Money, between new food and drink offerings on the menus, upcoming fundraisers -- the increasing role that online delivery has in the restaurant industry. Brady and his team are also looking at other opportunities to expand in Rhode Island.
