Inside the Fitting Room with Scarlet Chamberlin - April 21
Tuesday, April 21, 2015
One of the many pleasures of my job is that I get to interact with women of all ages from all over doing work that has a positive impact on our world.
I style individuals in all around the country. Traveling to Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle to be face to face with them is part of my year at a glance, but Skype and the internet enable me to build wardrobes for clients as far away as Dubai virtually.
Dynamic and talented authors, artists, entrepreneurs and healers find me on the web. We collaborate on looks blending the best of their existing wardrobes with what's accessible online, flattering for their bodies, and representative of their personalities.

After receiving the head-to-toe looks I styled, she said: “I am sitting here with my eyes brimming with tears. I am so incredibly nervous/terrified for these photo shoots and I can be really hard on myself for the way I look. You have literally calmed my nerves and re-inspired me for these shoots and fashion in general. For that, I can't thank you enough. The looks you have put together are EXACTLY what I wanted but just couldn't quite bring to life. You’re a genius.”
It’s so hard to imagine that Danielle could be hard on herself. She’s gorgeous, smart, kind and uplifting. She had fun and felt so confident being herself during her photo shoots. A surprise by-product is that she now has a whole new bohemian-chic wardrobe. Win Win!
Here is Natasha. She is a brand engineer and creative director with a keen sense of what is hot in art and design. She creates online identities for her entrepreneurial clients, and during her time off, she is an international jet-setter. She’s just cool like that.
She said: “My first priority was to look good on camera: stylish and sharp, but not trendy. Comfortable, and ‘like me’. I really don’t like getting my picture taken, so having your wardrobe and makeup input helped HUGELY! We had an aggressive schedule and being able to have all options decided on beforehand made moving through the shot list easy for myself and my photographer. The whole experience made me realize I should have invested in a styling session sooner! It’s a brilliant business decision that benefits your image, your time and your confidence.”
Here is Cheryl. You may have heard of her! Her demanding schedule includes press junkets, speaking engagements, international travel, family engagements, the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards and countless charity events. This amazing woman needs clothes that can mix and match and function for her wild calendar of events.
Even us busy ladies doing big work with very little time to consider fashion still think about our style. And guys too! What we wear has to function for our lifestyles, but it’s about so much more than that.
From a woman applying for a competitive new job:
“Dear Scarlet, Thank you for your help putting together my outfit. I walked into my interview feeling confident. Not only was I the only one not wearing black suit pants, a black blazer, and a solid color collared shirt, I looked refined, polished and memorable. I know I made a positive impression. What you do for women is far beyond making us look good on the outside.”
It’s not superficial to think about what you wear and how you present yourself. It will help you stand out among the crowd, whether you are at an interview, looking to date, or launching a new business. And it could even help you become more confident and happy with who you are. Don't be afraid to stand tall and look the world in the eye!
